DIY Painting Straw Hat

The weave is tight enough that the paint doesn't bleed through, so I could actually layer colors without the straw getting soggy. Took me two evenings to finish a sunset design, and the 30 cm size gives you plenty of room to play with.

The hat is exactly 30 cm as described, giving plenty of room for a detailed design. I painted a sunflower on mine and the straw soaked up the acrylic paint nicely without bleeding.

I was a little worried the hat would feel flimsy, but the brim holds its shape well while I'm painting on it. The 30cm diameter gives me plenty of room for a detailed design without feeling cramped.
